LOCATION
The Sunset district is away from city center but easy to get to by car or public transportation. A quiet, residential area, the Sunset has main streets lined with restaurants, cafes, and bars.
If you love crab, you must go to Thanh Long, the best dungeness crab and garlic noodles in the city! Nearby Taraval Street has great choices
Parkside Tavern with some delish Eggs Benedict or stuffed French Toast
El Burrito Express (can't come to SF and not have a burrito!)
1.5 miles west is the Pacific Ocean. Walk along the shore of Ocean beach and suck in the sea air!
1.5 miles north is beautiful, lush Golden Gate Park. Not only is Golden Gate Park full on walking and biking trails but the home of the California Academy of Sciences, the De Young Museum, Conservatory of Flowers, and the Japanese Tea Gardens.
Want to venture out to Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf? Hop on the L-Taraval Muni Street Car and enjoy the scenes of the city as it takes you to the heart of Market Street and Union Square.
Public transportation is the easiest way to get around the city! Taking the L-Taraval Street car goes through different districts of SF, including the famous Castro district and the eats and shops of the West Portal district.
Want to visit Ghirardelli Square and Fisherman's Wharf? Make the most of getting there! We recommend you take the L-Taraval street car to Powell Street and Market Street. Jump on the Powell-Hyde Cable Car (did you know that San Francisco's cable car is the only moving landmark in the US?) which takes you through Chinatown (the first Chinatown in the US!) and to Ghirardelli Square. This cable car line also takes you to the top of Lombard Street, the crookedest street in the world, and famous shots of Alcatraz and Coit Tower. The Powell-Mason cable car line also takes you through China Town and straight to the start of Fisherman's Wharf and San Francisco's Italian neighborhood, North Beach.
If you'd rather leave your car at the home, Uber, Lyft, and Yellow Cab are also great ways to get around San Francisco.
