“UPDATE: 3/1/2017 - The landlord has informed Homesuite that the torn curtain has been replaced and the plumbing issues experienced had been due to plumbing work in the building that has since been completed. The kitchen was renovated in December of 2015. This property had pros and cons. The good thing is that the location is great. Right across from Lake Merritt and close to public transportation. The bad things were. The building and unit are very dated and not well kept. I experience plumbing backups in the kitchen and bath. The unit wasn't professionally cleaned prior to arrival. While it had been dusted (most areas), the counters, window sills had remaining dirt. The unit was equipped with only the bare essentials for cleaning. There was a swifter that continues to separate and a difficult to use shop vac. The screen in the bedroom was badly torn which meant that the window couldn't be opened without attracting bugs. The property was advertised as luxurious. That certainly is not the case. It would need to be completely refurbished and refurnished. In California, it's 21 days to return a deposit after the keys are surrendered. It took them 20 days to return the $3500 deposit. There really shouldn't have been this type of delay. Home Suite should have taken a more active role in the return and even held the amount in escrow. Don't think I'd return. ”
